Amen The method of reciting Durud After Isha (night) prayers, the saliks (travellers) of this tarika (path) should sit on the prayer mat with their eyes shut as if they were sitting in their prayer (feet folded backwards) and concentrate on their qalb (heart) making intention as mentioned below: Intention (neiyat): I have turned my attention (mutawajjeh) towards my qalb.

My latifa qalb is turned towards the qalb of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him by the wasila of the latifa qalb of my pir sahib. May I receive the tawajjuh (attention), muhabbat (love) and Ziyarat (visitation) of the Prophet, O Allah. Amen One should recite this durud shareef between 100 – 500 times each night in the same way without making changes to the numbers. The durud shareef of the night is given below: اللهم صل علئ سيدنا محمد ن النبي الامي واله وسلم Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadini-nnabi-il ummii wa aalihi wa sallim After fajr one should make intention (neiyat) in the following way then recite the following durud shareef 100 times. Intention (neiyat): I have turned my attention (mutawajjeh) towards my latifa qalb.

My latifa qalb is turned towards the qalb of Khwaja Moin Uddin Chisti (rahmatullahi alahi) by the wasila of the latifa qalb of my pir sahib. May I receive the tawajjuh (attention), muhabbat (love) and Ziyarat (visitation) of Khwaja Moin Uddin Chisti, O Allah. Amen The durud shareef of the day is given below: اللهم صل علي سيدنا محمد سيد المرسلين – وعلئ محيئ سنته الشيخ معين الدين جشتي (رح) امام الطريقت والاولياء الكاملين Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadin sayyidil mursalin – wa ‘ala muhi-ul sunnati –shshaaykh Moin Uddin Chisti (rahmatullahi alahi) imamut tarikati wal awliya-il kamilin The method of doing pas-an-pas zikir The travellers of this path should recite this durud shareef first and then keep doing pas-an-pas zikir (breath meditation) with it.

There are two ways of doing pas-an-pas. First way: one should say ‘Allah’ when breathing in and ‘hu’ when breathing out. Second way: one should say ‘la ila ha’ when breathing in and ‘illa-Allah’ when breathing out. One should not use any force or modify the way they breathe when doing this.

Breathing should be done naturally. This should be happening while walking, sleeping, sitting, eating and all other conditions. One should pay attention that one does not waste a single breath without mentioning Allah. When one keeps on doing this in the wakeful state eventually one will be able to do this too while during asleep with the help of Allah.

And this will cause the attraction of this world to slowly disappear from the his heart. At your service, Ahkarul ibad, Mufti Ahsan Ahmed, Khalifa Furfura Shareef, Calcutta, West Bengal, India, ahsan1975@hotmail.co.uk
